Det er en stoer opmuntring, at Deres Kongelige Majestet allernaadigst Velger: habile og
Meriterende Subjecta, til de Publique Tienester. ieg har fra ungdommen apliceret mig til
Pennen og det Juridiske Studium;
Tient adskillige Civile Betiente, og deriblandt den afdøde Sorenskriver over Rachestad
Fogderie Echard Stochflet, som fulmægtig i mange aar = indtil 1748, da jeg forestod
det Rachestadske Sorenskriver Embede, som Constitueret. Siden har jeg været beskikket,
som Procurator for Over og under-Retterne i Aggerhuus Stift, indtil for = 2 á 3 aar
siden, da ieg atter blev Constitueret til at forrette den afdøde Sorenskriver Stochflets
Embede i hands Svaghet, for at Redressere adskillige betydelige mangler i Embedet, i
nærværende tiid har ieg ved Connisence i Districted, fliid og arbeid, bragt mange ting
i Rigtighet til vedkommendes fornøyelse; dog mangler der endnu meget, besynderlif af
den Publique Rigtidhed og Sikkerhed for de u-myndiges Midle, som i saa kort tiid kunde
Redreseres. Ieg har soustineret examen Iuridicum, og overalt i de Iudicale Foretninger
mig har været anbefalede beviis saadan habitude, som min Ambtmands og Øvrigheds gode
Attestata bevidner. Ieg er af den bekiente President Salig Hans Nansens Familie som
haver allernaadigst Løfte paa at blive forfremet i Deres Kongelige Majestets Tieneste,
ieg boer i det Rachestdske Sorenskriveries District, har en ung kone og 8te levende
Barn, og efter min lyst og indsigt i Rødnings-Væsenet, skulle allerunnerdanigst glæde
mig over, i qvalite som Sorenskriver at kunne befordre executionen af Amptmand Fleischers
Solide Project derom, i ernevnte District, hvor jeg Speciel kiender fast hver gaards
og Bundes Omstændighed, da ieg selv har viis muligheden,
idet ieg har ladet Rødde og bebygge = 6 nye Pladser under min paaboende gaard

Giølstad, i en tiid af = 10 aar, hvor nu = 6 Familier har Deres ophold. Naar ieg
maatte meddeles allernaadigst Previlegium, har ieg Resolveret ved min gaard at indrette
Een Stampe, Farver, Overskiærer og Presse Fabriqve, for at annimere Bønderne og
andre til at beflitte sig meere paa væverier og Smaae Ulden Fabriquer; men min tiid
og fliid maae være u-nyttig andvendt, og ieg ikke skulle Reiisere i mit Hoved Petitum,
som skal understøtte de øvrige; derfor er det ieg, saavel for Deres Kongelige
Majestets Glorie og Publici gavn, som min og mines bæste allerunderdanigst ansøger
Deres Kongelige Majestet allernaadigst ville forunde mig det vacante Sorenskriver
Embede over Rachestad Fogderie, hvorudi ieg tilforn saa meget haver arbeidet, da
ieg allerunderdanigst forbinder mig at sette Embedet i Stand; at udbetale og bringe
i Rigtighed de u-myndiges Midler, som den afdøde Sorenskriver Stochflets Boe ikke
formaaer, og at betale til hands Fattige Enke = 50 Rigsdalders aarlig Pension, samt
videre. Af forbemeldte Sandferdige Motiver, som ingen anden kand beraabe sig paa,
har ieg allerunderdanigst haab, om allernaadigst snar hielp og bønhørelse.

Most Powerful Gracious Honorable King and Master!
It is a great encouragement, that Your Royal Highness in your gracefulness choose:
competent and worthy subjects, to the public services. I have since my youth applied myself
to the pen and the study of law;
Served numerous civil servants, and among them the late District Stipendiary Magistrate of Rachestad
district Echard Stochflet, as law clerk during many years = until 1748, when I entered
the Distric Stipendiary Magistrate office, as deputy. Since then, I have been appointed,
as confidential clerk for the higher and lower courts in the district of Aggerhuus,
until = 2 to 3 years ago, when I again became deputy in charge of the late District
Stipendiary Magistrate Stochflet's office in his absence, to readdress numerous serious
wants in the office, lately I have through reconnaissance in the district, diligence and
work, brought many things
in order to the satisfaction of the concerned; though there are still many flaws,
in particular the public rights and safety of the incapacitated's means, which soon
could be readdressed. I have sustained the law examination, and everywhere in the business of law
I have been recommended and excelled, as my county office and other good testimonials
can prove. I am related to the notable President Gracious Hans Nansen who
have most humbly been promoted in Your Royal Highness' service,
I live in the district of the Rachestad District Stipendiary Magistrate, have a young
wife and 8 living children, and with my desire and insight in the Rødnings-Office,
would most humbly appreciate, in position of District Stipendiary Magistrate to further the execution of
the solid project of County Officer Fleischer in this area, where I in particular know every farm's
and farmer's circumstances, where I myself when possible,
have cleared and built = 6 new places under my farm of residence Giolstad,
in a period of = 10 years, where now = 6 families have their residence. When I
should receive most humbly the privilege, I have resolved to install a grinder, dye,
cutter and press factory at my farm, to encourage the farmers and others
to engage themselves more on weaving mills and small wool factories; but my time
and diligence will be wasted if I don't excel in my main petition, which is to support
the others, therefore I, both for Your Royal Highness' glory and public gain,
which I and my best most humble petition Your Royal Highness most gracefully would
grant me the vacant position of District Stipendiary Magistrate of the Rachestad district,
in which I already have worked so much, that I most humbly will put the office in order;
to pay and bring to order the incapacitated's means, which the late District Stipendiary Magistrate
did not support, and to pay his poor widow a yearly pension of = 50 Riksdalders, etcetera.
Of already mentioned truthful motives, which no one else can claim, I have most humble hopes,
that most graciously my prayers will soon be heard.
